Jack in the Box Day Nursery was established in 1997. With its distinctive barrel roof, the nursery building was originally an old

Baptist church which was sympathetically renovated to its current use as a purpose designed children’s day nursery.

Based in Saltersgill, close to James Cook University hospital, we pride ourselves in providing a safe and stimulating environment where

children can freely express themselves whilst having fun. Our fundamental aim is that the children are happy and stimulated by a wide range of activities and resources that are available to them. We have a wide and varied curriculum which is based on the national standards. The nursery has been designed for a maximum of 52 children that fall into three age groupings. Our Baby room with its safety cushioned flooring, can accommodate nine babies between six weeks and one year old, whilst our Munchkins room looks after nine toddlers in the one to two year age group. Our preschool room looks after up to 34 children between 2 and school entry age in their own well equipped preschool room with the latest technology

The children can enjoy a full range of outdoor activities in our fully enclosed and secure gardens to the sides and a large grassed area to the rear.

Introducing you and your child to the Nursery gradually is very important, as this will give you the opportunity to get to know us, and us to know you. We encourage you and your child to visit us together for short, gradually increasing periods, until your child is ready to be left with us. In these early stages we know you may worry, but we are always just a 'phone call away and are happy to discuss problems or worries or simply to answer "Yes, he or she's fine".

Up to thirty four children between two and school entry age have their own well equipped Pre-school room with the latest technology and non slip flooring. Each of our rooms are designed to ensure that each child receives the maximum amount of attention and support throughout their fun filled time with us.

All of our principle staff are fully qualified to at least B Tech Nursery Nurse or NVQ level 3 equivalent. Like the children in our care, each parent is treated as an individual and encouraged to be fully involved with their child’s development. Our staff prepare a full brief to parents on the activities of the day and their child’s achievements.
